TIAA-CREF names new senior VP and chief compliance officer
Financial services leader TIAA-CREF has announced the appointment of Janice Innis-Thompson as senior vice president and chief compliance officer. Innis-Thompson has been acting as chief compliance officer for the organization since March 2007. Working closely with TIAA-CREF's business and support units, Innis-Thompson will oversee compliance processes and procedures and integrate them into the organization's business processes. Prior to joining TIAA-CREF in October 2006, she was senior compliance counsel at Tyco International. TIAA-CREF manages about $428 billion in combined assets and is a leading provider of retirement services to those in the academic, research, medical, and cultural sectors.



Dallas code compliance director retires after six months on the job
Dallas Code Compliance Director Joe Polino has announced his retirement just six months after he was selected to oversee Dallas's municipal code-enforcement efforts. Polino, who earlier served as Dallas's city marshal, said that he loved his job but simply wanted more leisure time. The city's code compliance director is responsible for enforcing about 900 city codes addressing issues such as tall weeds and piles of trash, stray dogs, graffiti, and deteriorating buildings. According to City Manager Mary Suhm, Street Services Director Forest Turner will serve as interim director for Dallas's code compliance department until a permanent replacement is found.

WSU athletics division names new director of compliance
Julie Owen has been appointed as the director of compliance for Wright State University's athletics division in Dayton, OH. Prior to joining WSU's athletics department, Owen worked for the athletic compliance office of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. She has also worked for the Sun Belt Conference, the WNBA, and Wake Forest University's athletics department. Owen graduated from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. A public university, Wright State provides outstanding educational opportunities for students from across the globe. The university has almost 17,000 students, to whom it offers more than 100 undergraduate and more than 50 Ph.D., graduate, and professional degrees.
