Role & Responsibilities

A Senior Consultant has developed a specialization within a specific domain of expertise. A Senior Consultant is capable of working independently as well as in teams. A Senior Consultant is often responsible for the completion of a part of a project or activities for which he/she leads a small team. A Senior Consultant is more client-oriented and drives sales activities.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to,

Manage and direct personnel

Mentor and develop staff by setting appropriate goals and objectives

Attend technical trade or association meetings

Independently conduct on and off site evaluation to customer specific requirements. Including but not limited to:

Research, read and determine applicability of national codes and standards;

Read and understand schematics and manufacturing instructions;

Validate the project scope and sample applicability;

Under scope of the project, identify required testing and develop test plans;

Identify and document simple repairs/corrections on EUT as needed;

Conduct thorough design review; document results.

Supply information for quotes such as length of project, resources and samples required, and standards that will be used.

Provide more specialized \expertise\ in one product category, i.e., become subject matter expert, or obtain and maintain advanced product knowledge.

Coordinate and lead client meetings/discussions.

Provide sales support for any and all product requirements including direct customer presentations;

Management of subcontracted work

Communicate project status and test results to client, sales personnel, and management throughout project. Provide on-going support to clients as needed.

Identify project needs and sample deliveries for effective resource planning and meeting of client's expectations.

Play a variety of roles depending on projects, such as a technical and scientific reference or organizing and managing tasks

Delegate tasks to other team members to make sure the project is completed on a timely basis

Provide the support during the duration of projects to ensure the needs of the organization are met

Perform technical assessments and analysis of specifications of projects and implement necessary solutions

Work closely with customers to gain an understanding of needs


Bachelor's degree in engineering; advanced degree preferred

7-10 years directly related experience; prefer prior project management/design experience

PE License preferred

Demonstrated experience with global regulatory compliance is preferred

Prior supervisory experience required

Ability to travel as business needs dictate

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions

Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form

Excellent communication skills, in both verbal and written formats

Excellent organization and time management skills

Excellent interpersonal skills

Must be self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
