Vice President of Accreditation and Licensing (VP A&L)

plays a critical role in ensuring that Ancora Education schools operate in accordance with standards and criteria established by accrediting agencies, state regulatory authorities, and Ancora policies.  Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, the VP A&L manages the daily accreditation and licensure activities for campuses located throughout the United States.  The VP A&L oversees a team of regionally-based Managers of Regulatory Operations (MRO) serving Ancora institutions and programs.

The VP A&L must have the ability to work well with diverse stakeholders, including campus leaders and senior management throughout the enterprise, to manage efficiently and collegially employees, and to communicate effectively with colleagues and other constituents throughout the country.  This position calls for effective leadership skills, strong oral and written communications skills, an ability to think and plan strategically about accreditation and licensure activities, self-reliance, an ability to manage and motivate employees, exceptional critical thinking and analytical skills, as well as expertise in state regulations, accreditation (institutional and programmatic) standards, and federal requirements.


Supervise, manage, and mentor a team of geographically diverse MROs and manage related human resources matters

Advise senior management, MROs, and campus leadership teams on the standards, criteria, and procedures of the accreditation and licensing agencies affecting their institutions and programs  

Draft, review, and approve timely, effective, persuasive, and well-written narratives for submissions and communication to accreditation agencies and state licensing bodies

Daily oversight of the work performed by MROs concerning any accreditation or licensing process concerning Ancora’s institutions or programs

Monitor potential changes in relevant accreditation guidelines, keep up-to-date of developments in applicable accreditation standards and criteria, and brief senior management and relevant staff, as necessary

Assist in the development of strategies to align program offerings on campuses with outcomes requirements of various accrediting agencies

Collaborate with appropriate internal colleagues regarding the performance of Ancora’s accredited institutions and programs on the range of institutional, program, and student outcomes that must be reported annually to accreditors and notify appropriate institutional and corporate leaders about anticipated shortfalls in outcomes

Monitor schedules of campus visits, review visit preparation plans to ensure that campuses receive the support required to prepare for such visits, and for accuracy and persuasiveness submissions to accreditors and regulators

Work with leaders in academics, financial aid, compliance, and human resources to ensure that accreditation and state licensure policies at Ancora’s institutions are current

Produce reports, as needed, to track student, institutional, and program outcomes required by accrediting agencies and state licensing bodies

Assist with the preparation of official correspondence to external regulators

Contribute to employee on-boarding to ensure that new MROs and other Ancora employees understand the regulatory regime under which for-profit institutions of higher education operate

Participate in strategic planning meetings to provide input regarding the potential regulatory or accreditation impact on campus operations

Other duties as assigned or requested by the Chief Compliance Officer or Corporate leadership

Track state legislation impacting schools/maintain relationships with states, attend conferences and meetings, as appropriate

Ensure all internal campus based regulatory items are properly maintained (PAC minutes, improvement plans, IAIP/strategic plans, documentation for out of class work, state/accreditation binders or electronic folders);

Continuous review and development of standard processes and documentation that supports the processes involved with accreditation and licensure needs

Job Requirements


Strong managerial and leadership skills

Excellent writing and verbal communication, project management, conceptual, and analytical skills

An ability to work effectively and productively as a member of a team and with senior management

Promote a positive culture of support and compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements

The ability to prioritize and multi-task in a collaborative, fast-paced environment


Master’s degree from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or

significant experience of ten years or more in regulatory operations and/or compliance focused on licensure and accreditation activities for postsecondary institutions is required

Previous experience as a campus and/or department manager in a proprietary education setting

Experience with campus academic & administrative platforms or other industry related software

Knowledge and experience with regulatory compliance guidelines in the postsecondary education industry or a related sector

Experience with ACCSC, COE, various allied health programmatic accreditation agencies, and multiple state licensing agencies

Significant knowledge of accrediting agency standards, criteria, and procedures is required

Significant experience working with for-profit postsecondary institutions is required

Knowledge of the standards, criteria, and procedures of state licensing boards and programmatic accrediting agencies relevant to Ancora’s institutions is desired

Prior experience in the development and submission of applications to post-secondary regulatory bodies
