We are currently seeking a Compliance Officer to develop and oversee a Corporate Compliance Program to review, evaluate, communicate, and manage external compliance issues and policies for ETS. This includes ensuring that the ETS Board of Trustees, officers, employees, and contractors are aware of and are in compliance with the rules and regulations of relevant regulatory agencies and government bodies. You will also maintain awareness of any changes to applicable rules, regulations, and policies; communicate those changes effectively; and update training and other compliance materials accordingly. Additional responsibilities include working with other functions within ETS, as appropriate, to ensure that compliance and policy standards are met across all levels at ETS.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and communicate a strategic vision for compliance at ETS
  • Oversee and monitor legal compliance at ETS (including, for example, data privacy laws, business records, wage and hour rules, record retention, environmental regulations, and export compliance)
  • Work with ETS counsel to ensure awareness and compliance with domestic and foreign laws and regulations relevant to ETS’s business
  • Collaborate with other functions within ETS (e.g., Human Resources, Privacy Office) to direct compliance issues to appropriate existing channels for investigation and resolution. Consult with ETS legal counsel as needed
  • Oversee the ETS Ethics Hotline, managing and conducting investigations as necessary
  • Work with the Office of Quality and Internal Audit to identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develop/implement corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues, and provide general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future
  • Provide reports to keep ETS legal counsel and other senior management informed of the operation and progress of compliance efforts (including the Compliance and Privacy Executive Committee)
  • Work with Human Resources, ETS legal counsel, and others to oversee and maintain an effective compliance training program, including appropriate introductory training for new employees as well as ongoing training for all employees and managers
  • Plan, develop and implement a program of internal monitoring by the Company’s compliance functions to evaluate the accuracy of the information and the degree of compliance with all applicable internal and external guidelines, policies, and regulations. Collaborate with Internal Audit to include certain compliance-oriented audits in their annual audit plan to ensure that the Company’s ongoing monitoring efforts are appropriate
  • Collaborate with the Office of Quality, individual compliance functions, and Internal Audit to consolidate written reports on audit findings, recommendations for improvements and corrective actions planned to mitigate risk and follow up on recommendations for improvements and corrective actions
  • Oversee company Records Retention program; develop Data Retention policy and program. Make appropriate updates to ETS compliance-related policies, across programs and documents
  • Determine which policies are applicable to which ETS populations, determine which policies
  • Require written certifications, and manage the certification collection and maintenance process
  • Adhere to ethical standards and comply with the laws and regulations applicable to your job function


  • 6-10 years of progressively responsible work experience in compliance
  • Juris Doctor Degree (preferred not required)
  • Membership in one or more state bars, and willingness to become a member of the New Jersey Bar
