Job Purpose & Responsibilities: As the ‘home of unique offerings’ within SABIC, the Specialties Strategic Business Unit is focused on challenging technology endeavors that positively impact the way the world travels, communicates, works and lives. This SBU provides unique offerings such as high heat resins, functional compounds and additives, specialty fluids, nanotechnology and thermoplastics composites to industries such as Additive Manufacturing, Consumer & Industrial, Electronics, Healthcare, Mass Transportation, Automotive and Water Management.Role Purpose:• SABIC has legal liability to US Customs and Border Protection and other agencies for compliance with regulations relating to US imports. 3rd parties perform many critical roles in SABIC’s import processes, but internal ownership and understanding is critical to keep SABIC compliant• All business units share regulatory requirements, so central ownership of related processes is critical to efficient and compliant ownership of US import processes Major responsibilities include:• Identify, recommend and implement processes for trade compliance and operational synergies to reduce cost and regulatory risk, while ensuring SABIC’s international transactions and related compliance work comply with all Customs regulations for US imports, as well as those of other relevant government agencies, including but not limited to FDA and TSCA.• Maintain daily oversight of US import, free trade, drawback, reconciliation, and other US Customs-related activities, including training development/delivery.• Interact with company persons on a global basis whose business decisions may have an impact on SABIC’s US import transactions• Develop and maintain classification skills required to accurately classify products and determine free trade eligibility for imports and exports in accordance with the global HS and US HTSUS, and ensure robust deployment of classification information throughout the Company as needed• Lead process development and/or process mapping with finance, supply chain, manufacturing, procurement, technology and other functions as needed to ensure set up and execution of compliant initial or non-standard US import transactions• Create/maintain internal controls manual and standard operating procedures for SABIC personnel, including contracted 3rd party compliance experts, to follow to ensure US import compliance and meet key business needs• Manage investigation and communications as needed and ensure timely responses to inquiries or audits from Customs or other US import-related investigations, including acting as single point-of-contact for US Customs in coordination with Legal and senior members of the Americas compliance team .
