Position Description:

Job Summary

The Website ADA Accessibility Compliance Coordinator reports to the Director of University Integrity and Compliance Office (UICO) and works in collaboration with the Office of Information Technology Services (ITS), and the Office of Communications and Marketing (OCM), leading campus efforts to develop, implement, maintain, and promote campus-wide resources for website accessibility initiatives. This role will monitor the accessibility of University of Louisville websites, assist in creating and implementing website and digital accessibility policies, standards, and best practices, and provide campus awareness and training about website accessibility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain web accessibility training materials, best practices, policies, procedures, and reference guides for meeting website and electronic document ADA accessibility compliance.
  • Lead individual and group training for departmental website editors about accessible website content.
  • Actively participate in system-wide discussions with web-related campus-wide committees (e.g., Webguides, web role-based discussions) to ensure continued focus on producing accessible web and digital content.
  • Collaborate with the campus stakeholders to identify approaches and best practices for compliance with accessibility requirements that pertain to web and digital accessibility. Lead efforts to implement these practices, when appropriate.
  • Administer and train departmental website editors on automated web accessibility tool(s) available to the campuses.
  • Monitor intake form for reported concerns related to website accessibility compliance.
  • Perform accessibility reviews (automated and manual) using university approved web accessibility tools and provide website accessibility compliance reports and remediation plans to department units, OCM, and ITS.
  • Coordinate with website editors to develop and prioritize remediation plans for identified accessibility issues and help with ensuring remediation on all high-level University webpages and websites.
  • Provide web accessibility statistics and/or written reports to the UICO Director regarding campus-wide ADA website accessibility compliance.
  • Stay current with ADA website accessibility laws, regulations, standards, best practices, and guidelines as they relate to the strategic, programmatic, and operational initiatives of the University campuses, and in compliance with applicable federal and for compliance with federal and state ADA website accessibility laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using web content management systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management principles as applied to coordinating, evaluating and reporting on campus-wide website accessibility projects.
  • Previous experience working with students and employees with disabilities in higher education.
  • Strong understanding of CSS and HTML5
  • Experience in providing one-to-one and group consultation, training and presentations on digital accessibility.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of relevant laws, regulations, standards, and other compliance requirements for higher education, including Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
  • Working knowledge in the use of assistive technology and understanding of how individuals with disabilities interface with accessible digital content.
  • Working knowledge of web accessibility evaluation tools and processes.
