Emera invests in electricity generation, transmission and distribution as well as gas transmission and utility energy services. Headquartered in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Emera has investments throughout northeastern North America and the Caribbean.Accountabilities:As the successful candidate, you will work closely with Finance and other various business leaders throughout the Emera group of companies. You oversee Emera’s SOx/NI 52-109 internal controls framework and support the annual testing and documentation compliance effort. You are detail oriented, innovative and critical thinker with a customer-focused strategy who will strive to continually improve the quality of our compliance activities as well as enhance Emera’s overall control environment. You are comfortable interacting with and presenting to all levels of management. Your strong problem-solving abilities allow you to quickly assess a situation, evaluate options and adjust your approach.  You are an enthusiastic team player and able to maintain adaptability as team priorities change. You bring maturity, confidence and decision-making capability, along with enthusiasm, energy and a great sense of humor.You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of your co-workers by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.Primary Responsibilities:Maintain and enhance Emera’s SOx/NI 52-109 Compliance Program;Lead SOx/NI 52-109 team responsible for ongoing evaluation, testing and certification activities;Proactively monitor major changes in business processes and systems and provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders, as required; andCollaborate and work directly with process owners, business leaders and external auditors regarding testing activities, issue identification, change events and remediation activities.Skills, Capabilities and Experience:Professional accounting designation (CPA - CA, CGA, and/or CMA) or equivalent experience;Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in an auditing, risk and control environment and at least 2 years in a leadership role;Specific experience working in a SOx/NI 52-109 environment and knowledge of COSO considered an asset;Experience implementing internal control principles, financial and operational processes;Current knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements also considered an asset;Outstanding oral and written communication skills;Exceptional presentation skills;Strong analytical skills and broad business acumen;Solid critical and strategic thinking abilities;Ability to build and maintain effective business relationships; andDemonstrated enthusiasm, initiative and a strong commitment to professional development.Reports to: Senior Director, Internal AuditApplication Requirement: To apply, please go to – click on the Careers link and follow the instructions to APPLY.
