PRIMARY FUNCTION :
The Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) is primarily responsible for overseeing and managing the compliance program for the Center City Division of Jefferson Health. In this leadership role, the Chief Compliance Officer will serve as the steward of compliance strategy, structure, and processes for the Center City Division. As a respected member of the Enterprise Compliance team and subject matter expert, the Chief Compliance Officer is responsible for establishing standards and implementing procedures to ensure that Jefferson’s compliance programs throughout the division are effective and efficient in identifying, preventing, detecting and correcting noncompliance with applicable rules and regulations. The Center City Chief Compliance Officer will provide reasonable assurance to the SVP and Enterprise Chief Compliance Officer and the Board of Directors that there are effective and efficient policies and procedures in place, well understood and respected by all employees, and that the division complies with all regulatory requirements.
Provides leadership and exhibits awareness and understanding of ethical principles consistent with Jefferson’s Mission, Vision, and Values.
Communicates key issues to the Enterprise Chief Compliance Officer and other members of Jefferson Center City’s Senior Leadership team in a timely and effective manner
Conducts annual reviews of the Compliance Program and reports metrics and data sufficient to evaluate Program effectiveness.
Serves as the leader of the Center City Compliance Management Council and establishes effective means through which to ensure that appropriate stakeholders and leaders review, evaluate, and act upon information reported.
Oversees and monitors the Center City HIPAA Privacy program and its personnel.
Oversees and directs investigations related to compliance and/or HIPAA Privacy matters occurring within the Center City Division.
Oversees and evaluates staffing and effectiveness of personnel assigned to Center City Division of the corporate compliance program.
Oversees operation of the Jefferson Alertline to ensure that all matters reported receive appropriate and timely attention.
Meaningfully participates in the development and implementation of the annual compliance Work Plan for the Jefferson Health system.
Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the iSCORE values of Jefferson.
OTHER FUNCTIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
Establish, publicize and reinforce effective lines of communication throughout the organization.
In cooperation with Human Resources and other stakeholders, oversee and monitor the enforcement of compliance obligations and standards through appropriate disciplinary mechanisms.
Establish and implement systems for routine monitoring and auditing reasonably designed to detect violations of the Code of Conduct and applicable laws, regulations and policies.
Implement an annual risk assessment process to identify key areas of compliance risk.
Conduct timely investigations of identified potential compliance issues and consult with Jefferson’s legal counsel, as necessary and appropriate.
Designate work groups and task forces needed to carry out investigations or initiatives of the Compliance Program.
Develop and implement appropriate and timely corrective action plans to resolve risks and prevent similar future risks.
Master’s Degree in relevant area or JD ________________________________________________________________________ CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION: Certification in Healthcare Compliance, Compliance Research, or HIPAA/Privacy preferred.
_________________________________________________________________________ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
8+ years of experience in compliance, auditing, health care management, and/or other relevant field.
5+ years of management/supervisory experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
Experience with conducting complex compliance investigations, preferably in healthcare.
Clinical background preferred.
