nnJob DescriptionnAnalyze and provide recommendations on updating policy related documents to ensure underwriting intentions are documented and accurately communicated to the policyholder. Partner with Product Management to ensure legislative requirements and corporate communications translate appropriately onto policy related documents.Primary responsibilitiesReview of employer plan documents and amendments for alignment with Policy language; lead collaboration efforts to determine rate or policy term impact and evaluate risk to business operations and loss ratioDraft policy limitations language based on interpretation of plan documents and work directly with producers to explain revised terms; gather approval and ensure appropriate and timely delivery of final policy and underwriting requirementsCollaborate with Underwriters and Senior Managers to ensure the collection of required information to issue final terms and policy language; validate document terminology fits contractual needs, protects QBE against risk and requests any additional documentationDevelop working relationships with external production partners to ensure high level communication on policy issuance requirementsFormulate, affect, interpret and implement policy procedures, guidelines, strategic imperatives and product updates; draft procedural and endorsement language to be approved / signed off on by Underwriting and Product Compliance as necessaryConsult and advise management of trends in employer plan language and data quality of required reporting and final underwriting requirements; monitor policies and ensure changes in rates, terms, medical management and claims are handled with minimal risk to the organizationCompare and evaluate renewal underwriting requirements against expiring policy termsPursue and maintain qualifications and continued education in the areas of related state and federal regulationsDevelop strong underwriting knowledge and assist with final underwriting requirementsContribute to a positive work environment by demonstrating cultural expectations and influencing others to reward performance and value “can do” people, accountability, diversity and inclusion, flexibility, continuous improvement, collaboration, creativity and funAdopt QBE values in personal work behaviors, decision-making, contributions and interpersonal interactions; manage own career development by soliciting feedback and valuing other perspectivesrnRequired QualificationsrnEducationHigh School Diploma/GEDrnExperience4 years relevant experiencernPreferred QualificationsrnEducationBachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experiencernExperienceExperience in insurance policy and compliancernLicenses/CertificationsHealth Insurance Associate (HIA), Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS), Registered Employee Benefits Consultant (REBC), or Registered Health Underwriter (RHU)rnrnKnowledgeAdvanced knowledge of proposed terms and plan language to ensure compliant policy issuance, endorsements, cancellations and reinstatementsAdvanced knowledge of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)Develop working knowledge of department goals and business objectives and contribute to best practice development to support the objectivesrnSkillsTrack and analyze up-to-date legal regulationsCommunicate information in a clear, well-organized, and professional mannerThink critically to resolve problemsManage assigned projectsrnAbilitiesWork independently with little supervision or directionCollaborate with internal and external customersBuild and capitalize on beneficial internal and external relationshipsManage and prioritize competing responsibilities concurrently and effectivelyrnWork environmentrnTravel frequencyInfrequent (approximately 1-4 trips annually)rnPhysical demandsGeneral office jobsWork is generally performed in an office environment in which there is not substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
