Job Purpose The Vice President of International Trade Compliance will provide oversight of the Company's compliance with trade compliance regulations worldwide. Nature of Duties/Responsibilities Monitoring regulatory changes that impact the Company's trade compliance posture and advise management; Working cross-functionally with Legal, Sales, Tax and domestic and foreign plants to resolve country, plant or customer-specific trade compliance issues worldwide; Supporting global initiatives and projects including M&A transactions; Advising on and assisting in the set up and support of free trade zones and bonded facilities; Building knowledge and awareness within Sanmina of customs and international trade issues, including providing technical guidance and training; Serving as (or managing) Empowered Official. Key to the success of this position will be assembling and integrating existing Sanmina expertise and personnel currently working in trade compliance capacities and leveraging customs brokers and other outside expertise in order to provide the General Counsel and Executive Management an awareness of key trade compliance issues and risks. Education and Experience The successful candidate must have:Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 15 years experience in U.S. and International Trade Compliance. Good understanding of:U.S. and international product and component classification schemes; U.S. customs valuation matters; HTS coding and duty calculations; Free trade zone requirements; Managing the impact of International Trade Commission orders; Mexico/IMMEX/Maquiladora issues; Canadian Controlled Goods issues; and Government self-reporting regimes. Experience managing teams or other resources that support international trade compliance activities; and experience implementing trade compliance policies and procedures. Skills and attributes include:Pragmatic approach to identifying, scoping and assessing impact of trade compliance issues; Ability to work as a key contributor to large teams; Interface professionally and effectively with customer when needed; Ability to maintain objectivity and independence in the face of quarter-end and business pressures; Strong business acumen and judgment; Creative problem solver; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Ability to cost-effectively use outside resources (i.e. customs brokers, databases and consulting or law firms) to obtain information and expertise where sufficient knowledge is not available in-house.
