Who We Are Looking ForAs a Legal & Compliance Specialist, you will be responsible for performing legal research to answer complex regulatory questions from clients and staff, as well as helping to maintain Docutech’s mortgage document library.
Under the direction of legal counsel, you will prepare and review mortgage loan documentation for residential real estate closings.How You Can Help Us GrowMonitor state and Federal laws and regulations for changes, disseminate pertinent information to peers, and ensure affected documents and packages are properly managed and updated;Research and analyze for necessary additions or changes to company policies and procedures , to ensure they are in compliance with applicable state and Federal laws and regulations; Research and analyze legal sources, such as statutes, regulations, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes to support clients and business operations;Prepare legal documents, such as contracts, deeds, and trust instruments for legal counsel review;Maintain document files and document library;File correspondence and legal documents into office filing system; andReview mortgage closing document packages for accuracy and compliance with state and Federal laws.Additional Duties and ResponsibilitiesA Legal & Compliance Specialist works with Docutech’s executive team and staff members on the following strategic initiatives, as directed: Establish and monitor ongoing programs to ensure compliance with state and Federal laws and regulations;Research and coordinate responses to customer inquiries received from Client Support, Product Managers, and other staff members. Coordinate responses with Legal Counsel when necessary; andAssist in any additional projects, when needed.Qualifications, Skills & ExperienceBachelor's degree, paralegal certification, or one to two years of related experience is required.Experience as a paralegal or attorney within the mortgage industry is preferred, but not required.Strong research, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills are vital, in addition to the following skills: Excellent written and verbal communication;Ability to multi-task while meeting strict deadlines;Outstanding time management;Great decision-making skills and attention to detail and accuracy;Ability to maintain professionalism and handle confidential information appropriatelyAbility to perform legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and/or AllRegs.What We OfferOur environment is a fast paced, results driven office setting.
