rn PRIMARY PURPOSE:
rnProvide direction in the establishment and operation of a comprehensive program for emergency management. Assist district administrators, principals and other staff to meet their responsibilities in maintaining safe and secure school environments. Coordinate planning, response, and recovery for emergencies and disasters. Prepare emergency plans and procedures for natural disasters and human threats.

rn QUALIFICATIONS:
rn Education/Certification
rnBachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Public Safety or related field of study preferred
rnCompleted National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) courses or willingness to complete courses
rn
rn Special Knowledge/Skills
rnStrong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
rnAbility to demonstrate a high level of independent and professional conduct
rnAbility to use software to develop spreadsheets, do word processing, and create presentations
rnRespond effectively in potentially hazardous or crisis situations
rnAbility to present and facilitate training for small and large groups
rn
rn Experience
rnMinimum of four years of experience in emergency management in a school district, hospital, or other government agency
rn
rn MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
rnReview, evaluate and update the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. Emergency Operating Plan to improve the district’s ability to respond to and recover from the effects of major disaster conditions.
rnEnsure compliance with applicable federal and state laws and compatibility with city, county, state and federal plans.
rnDesign emergency and disaster preparedness training courses, materials, and plans for district administrators and support personnel.
rnDeliver training to various stakeholders utilizing a variety of delivery methods including large group trainings, tabletop trainings, drills, and web-based training.
rnOversee and coordinate safety and security audits as required by TEC 37.108(b).
rnDevelop and maintain liaisons with municipalities, county, departments, and similar entities to facilitate plan development, response effort coordination, and exchange of personnel and equipment.
rnWork effectively with staff, emergency services, and the public in a multicultural community.
rnPrioritize and determine emergency situations.
rnMaintain confidentiality and integrity of information.
rnMaintain accurate and detailed records.
rnAnalyze data, create charts and graphs and write reports.
rnComplete other duties as assigned.

rnAbility to work in stressful environment. Work with frequent interruptions. Ability to travel to multiple work locations as assigned. Frequent prolonged and irregular hours. Some prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting. Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching. Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds).
