SSGM COO Organization: Business Policy & Control, VP
JOB SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES
SSGM’s COO Organization is the operational infrastructure for SSGM and consists of Operations, Middle Office and Client Services Support.
The Business Policy & Controls team is a new team within COO, being built to help ensure SSGM’s COO organization has the proper processes and controls in place to reinforce efficiency of process, minimize operational errors, and ensure compliance with corporate policy, regulations, and laws.
This team will also acts as a first line of defense (“FLoD”), accountable for day-to-day operational and support activities to ensure proper execution of the aforementioned controls. FLoD is expected to report emerging risks, identify causes and track remediation efforts. FLoD is also required to have detailed knowledge of the regulatory and corporate requirements relevant to the business.
The successful candidate will have excellent writing skills, experience working with and analyzing data, knowledge of the financial services industry, and demonstrated success in building a team and working in a team environment.
·Develop and maintain a program to ensure that policies, procedures and controls properly address business risk in COO for Securities Finance
·Represent the COO organization as central point of contact and coordinator in Securities Finance audits and control reviews
·Fully investigate and understand all business incidents reported in the business globally
·Perform periodic controls testing in order to ensure business compliance
·Produce global monthly COO oversight reporting
·Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Risk Management, Internal Audit, Legal, Compliance, Business Risk and Controls etc.) to direct issues through appropriate existing channels for investigation and resolution
·Escalate any perceived violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures and recommend a course of action
·7 years’ experience in compliance, operations or business risk in the financial services industry
·Knowledge of Global Market products
·Experience and demonstrated success in managing risk within a trading environment
·Intellectual curiosity and an enthusiasm for learning and for developing
·Excellent writing, data management and reporting skills
·Attention to detail and dedication to the pursuit of data quality
·Advanced degree and/or certification a plus
