Corporate Risk

helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. We focus on three key risk areas: credit risk, operational risk, and market risk. We help our management and Board of Directors identify and monitor risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and take appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.

Wells Fargo Compliance

is the company’s compliance second line of defense function, providing company-wide leadership, standards, support, and independent oversight to ensure that all business groups abide by applicable laws, rules, regulations, and regulatory guidance (regulatory requirements), meet compliance responsibilities, and manage compliance risks. Wells Fargo Compliance credibly challenges management decisions, business processes, and activities, and evaluates and assesses adherence to applicable regulatory requirements. It provides appropriate analysis, reporting, and escalation to senior management and the Board of Directors, sets minimum standards for the company, and gives advice, guidance, and support for compliance risk management activities across the enterprise.

Within Wells Fargo Compliance, the

Enterprise Testing

group is responsible for establishing and maintaining a consolidated Enterprise Testing program at the corporate level. Enterprise Testing is responsible for developing a common methodology and standards, providing governance and oversight, executing testing, and conducting horizontal reviews. Testing and validation teams are responsible for implementing the Enterprise Testing methodology and standards, and executing group-specific testing.

As part of the larger team,

Enterprise Testing – Cards and Retail Services and Personal Lending Group

is responsible for testing, issue identification, root cause analysis, issue validation, and reporting on compliance and operational risk for the Cards and Retail Services (CRS) businesses. This includes Consumer Financial Services, Retail Services, and Servicing / Collections / Executive Office.


Operational Risk Consultant 4

role is a senior level individual contributor who will be focused on the development and execution of internal compliance and control reviews for CRS and Personal Lending Group (PLG). These reviews provide value-added control environment assessments and risk mitigation recommendations to the Lines of Business (LOBs) and their existing processes while still maintaining a balance with operational efficiency. This position may lead small groups of consultants in the execution of testing engagements specifically for CRS and PLG underwriting and risk management.

This Consultant will provide guidance to other consultants, the LOB, and other stakeholders on a variety of subject matters including risk and control identification and assessment, varied testing methodologies and approaches, appropriate structure for control monitoring activities, test script design and development, control design evaluation, and issue validation. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, ambitious candidate to be a part of the Enterprise Testing & Validation team, and provide risk leadership and expertise in a high visibility environment.

Operational Risk Consultant 4 Responsibilities:

Lead development of review engagements with high levels of complexity, including scope development, sampling strategies, control evaluation strategies, and testing methodologies

Design and effectively lead the most complex testing and validation activities with little to no supervision

Act as a subject matter expert regarding testing topics for multiple supported LOBs or LOB functions

Influence change on risk assessment accuracy

Identify key business processes and associated controls, and independently develop test plans to evaluate them, particularly those not captured by current compliance risk assessments

Interpret regulations and company policies and their applicability to business processes

Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, systems, and internal controls; analyze business or system changes to determine impact; identify and assess operational risk issues and assign risk ratings consistent with established policy standards

Proactively identify potential risks to Wells Fargo based on research of industry news and consent orders

Coordinate with review leads on the analysis of potential findings identified during testing engagements, including consultation with Controls and Operation Risk (COR) and LOB partners to identify the root cause of issues, review the adequacy of management controls to mitigate risk, make recommendations as needed, and interpret the risk-based application of review activity requirements

Review, apply, and educate on risk management business writing concepts to ensure issues and recommendations are clearly communicated to senior COR and LOB leadership based on substantive evidence compiled during the testing engagement

Present test results in an objective and unbiased manner, and draft opinions reflecting relevant facts that lead to logical conclusions

Draft ad-hoc reports or summaries in response to inquiries from senior management, the business, or regulators

Partner with the Data Analytics team to develop and continuously enhance the use of data analytics and automated testing as a more efficient means of measuring adherence to compliance and operational risk requirements

Provide compliance and operational risk expertise and consulting to the business as needed to identify, assess, and mitigate risk within highly complex business processes

Develop and maintain deep and strong relationships with business partners, COR consultants, key stakeholders, all levels of leadership, and other team members

Assist management with review planning, scheduling, testing strategies, and coverage plan; identify and escalate trends and offer potential solutions

Design and coordinate development of training materials; may also deliver training

Lead or participate in other emerging compliance and operational risk initiatives impacting CRS

Preferred Locations

: Sioux Falls, SD - Phoenix, AZ - Tempe, AZ - West Des Moines, IA - Minneapolis, MN - Saint Louis Park, MN - Wilmington, DE - Jacksonville, FL; however other locations within the Wells Fargo footprint will be considered.

Required Qualifications:

6 years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 6 years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 3 years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both

Desired Qualifications:

A BS/BA degree or higher in a quantitative discipline

Experience testing policy and procedures/control testing

Experience working with internal and external auditors and examiners

Knowledge and understanding of application testing methodologies, tools, and-execution

Outstanding problem solving and decision making skills

Strong collaboration and partnering skills

Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills

Strong risk management and compliance skills

Knowledge and understanding of Shared Risk Platform (SHRP) such as reporting and issue management

Experience with Wells Fargo risk systems such as Shared Risk Platform (SHRP), Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), or Control Risk Analysis System (CRAS )

Ability to interact with all levels of an organization

Advanced Microsoft Office skills

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
