Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. We focus on three key risk areas: credit risk, operational risk and market risk. We help our management and Board of Directors identify and monitor risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and take appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.

The CRS Testing team is an independent testing function within the newly-formed Enterprise Testing & Validation Center of Excellence. (Enterprise T&V COE) As part of the larger team, we are responsible for testing, issue identification, root cause analysis, issue validation, and reporting on compliance and operational risk for the CRS businesses. This includes Consumer Financial Services, Retail Services, and Servicing / Collections / Executive Office.

The Operational Risk Consultant 3 role is an individual contributor that will be focused on the development and execution of internal compliance and control reviews for CRS. These reviews provide value-added control environment assessments and risk mitigation recommendations to the CRS lines of business and their existing processes while still maintaining a balance with operational efficiency. There are two positions open at this time, both testing roles, one focused on servicing and one on underwriting testing. These positions will lead the execution of testing engagements, specifically for Credit Cards, Retail Services, Personal Lines and Loans (PLL), and Credit Risk Management.

The successful candidate will be able to exhibit strong writing capabilities in a risk management capacity, demonstrate influence and negotiation skills with all levels of management and team members, business acumen, and a strong understanding of risks and controls within business processes. The successful candidate will also demonstrate high performance in a current or previous risk management role and be able to establish credibility with their leadership and partners through a balance of high productivity, technical expertise, and robust relationship management skills. A clear, established ability to solve problems and implement solutions independently in a fast-paced environment with limited guidance is critical.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, ambitious candidate to be a part of the Enterprise Testing and Validation team, and provide risk leadership and expertise in a high visibility environment.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of extraordinary performance in diverse risk management roles. They will have established credibility with their partners through a balance of deep technical expertise and very strong relationship management.

More specifically, the successful candidate will:

Lead moderately complex reviews with limited assistance and guidance of manager. Fully understand the testing process, and make recommendations for improvement.

Provide guidance to less experienced consultants on risk management principles, including evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of control design and control performance during testing engagements

Review, apply, and educate on risk management business writing concepts to ensure issues and recommendations are clearly communicated to senior LOB leadership based on substantive evidence compiled during the testing engagement

Partner with the CRS COR Governance team to develop and continuously enhance the use of data analytics and automated testing as a more efficient means of measuring adherence to compliance and operational risk requirements

Develop partnerships with line of business contacts and others within CRS COR during testing engagements

Coordinate with Testing Managers and colleagues to ensure consistent application of Testing Program standards

Lead or participate in other emerging compliance and operational risk initiatives impacting the CRS Testing Strategy & Execution Team

Proactively identify potential risks to Wells Fargo based on risks identified across the industry through consent orders and news publications

Act as subject matter expert regarding testing topics for a supported line of business (Cards, Retail Services, etc.) and/or a line of business function (collections, servicing, etc.)

Participate in annual risk assessment, providing effective challenge to COR Consultants

Demonstrate ability to identify and utilize multiple resources to conduct research, learn and apply regulations and processes

Complete all reviews and other projects on time, and with good quality. Proactively assists others facing resource constraints.

Provide training and mentoring to less-experienced testers; providing applicable feedback

With guidance from more senior team members and leadership, accurately evaluate risks and controls, assist with the development of effective test plans, exhibit appropriate judgment regarding issues, and assist with preparation and communication of findings and compliance activity reports.

Required Qualifications:

2 years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both

2 years of experience in one or a combination of the following: additional compliance, additional operational risk management, IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience; or a BS/BA degree or higher in business or a related field

Desired Qualifications:

Intermediate Microsoft Office skills

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

Ability to interact with all levels of an organization

Strong risk management and compliance skills

Experience with Wells Fargo risk systems such as Shared Risk Platform (SHRP), Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), or Control Risk Analysis System (CRAS )

Knowledge and understanding of Shared Risk Platform (SHRP) such as reporting and issue management

Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills

Experience testing policy and procedures/control testing

Knowledge and understanding of application testing methodologies, tools, and-execution

Experience working with internal and external auditors and examiners

Outstanding problem solving and decision making skills

Strong collaboration and partnering skills

A BS/BA degree or higher in a quantitative discipline
