What You Will Do:
To facilitate Advocate Health Care and the Corporate Compliance Department in meeting the mission and goals of the Compliance Program. This person shall also be responsible for special projects as assigned. Serving as the CO~I to Advocate Health Care entities and functional areas as assigned. Included among these responsibilities are ensuring compliance with federal and state healthcare programs, and Advocate policies and procedures, The CO~I shall also promote an awareness, understanding of Advocate's Code of Conduct and positive ethical principles.
A.The CO~I is responsible, in coordination with the Senior Compliance Officer and Legal Counsel, Corporate Compliance Department and Compliance Committee.
What You Will Need:
Bachelor's degree in health related field or equivalent, plus 4~6 years of experience in compliance, healthcare consulting or related field (including at least 1 year in a leadership role).
Experience with healthcare legal issues
Previous experience in compliance operations for one or more of the following: a health care system, hospitals, physician group, laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, home health, or as a consultant.
Comprehensive knowledge of laws, policies, procedures, and practices regarding health care regulatory compliance issues.
Comprehensive knowledge of the organization and functions of a health care facility and areas susceptible to mismanagement, fraud, waste, abuse thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of administration and operations.
Familiarity with Medicare/Medicaid/Stark/False Claims Act/Anti~Kickback and state insurance laws as well as issues relating to professional fee billing and facility documentation and coding and billing requirements.
Self~starter and highly motivated
Strong writing skills, medical terminology and ability to analyze rules and assist in drafting policies and procedures relating to compliance.
Ability to monitor and conduct analyses of operating procedures.
Ability to identify issues, problems and critical factors, and develop methods for corrective action.
Ability to formulate, develop and implement monitoring, auditing and investigative standards, and policies and procedures.
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with senior management, physicians, managers, and other health care professionals, in order to promote compliance with applicable policies, procedures, plans, laws and regulations.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to provide education and training and consultation to a wide variety of health care professionals.
Ability to organize, assemble, categorize and prepare data for reporting purposes.
Maintains a high degree of credibility, independence, integrity and confidentiality and trust.
Sound professional judgment dependability resourcefulness, accuracy.
High degree of initiative tact and discretion.
Obtains One or More of the Following Certifications within first year if not Already Achieved:
Certified Compliance Professional (CCP), Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) The CO~I offices principally at an Advocate Health Care entity location and will have access to space at the Downers Grove headquarters as needed.. The incumbent will frequently travel to the Downers Grove headquarters, SRCO, KSC, hospitals and other facilities.
Extensive knowledge of healthcare operations, legal compliance/regulatory affairs ability to plan, complete and report on compliance activities, a continuous quality improvement philosophy and excellent interpersonal skills and good judgment are necessary.
Good project and time management skills and ability to meet deadlines are also important.
