Description Coordinates the prevention, investigation, and resolution of medical-legal and injury incidents occurring within the Hospital\u2019s venue. Assists in development and implementation of all aspects of the Risk Management and Corporate Compliance programs. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission and values. 1. Investigates and documents medical-legal, injury, and other unusual events involving patients, visitors, or employees. 10% 2. Communicates with the Hospital\u2019s insurance representatives and defense counsel regarding information exchange necessary for management of claims. 5%\u00a0 3. Identifies potential litigation situations and informs the Director of Risk Management accordingly. 5% 4. Prepares witnesses for deposition and trial testimony. 5% 5. Attends all depositions involving hospital personnel, attends all trials involving St. Luke\u2019s Health Corporation. 5% 6. Negotiates non-litigated settlements with claimants. 5% 7. Assists in development of annual audit plan based on the OIG Work Plan. 5% 8. Supervises the performance of planned and unplanned compliance related audits, maintains compliance logs and related files. 10% 9. Documents audit results clearly and reports them to the Director of Corporate Compliance and various committees. 5% 10. Develops and performs Risk and Compliance education and training for all employees. 5% 11.\u00a0Assists in internal compliance investigations and responds to external compliance related investigations under the direction of the Compliance Officer. 10% 12.\u00a0Performs review of Risk and Compliance manuals and policies, develops new policies as needed. 5% 13.\u00a0Maintains current certification in healthcare compliance (CHC) and remains current regarding applicable existing, pending, and proposed legislation involving all aspects of Corporate Compliance including Medicare\/Medicaid, and healthcare fraud and abuse. 5% 14.\u00a0Serves as a resource to all hospital departments in the area of risk identification and mitigation. 5% 15.\u00a0Serves as a member of multiple committees as assigned. 10% 16.\u00a0Performs other work duties as assigned or requested. 5% \u00a0 Total 100% Education Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Missouri Required. Nursing Diploma or Associates in Nursing Required. BSN or completion of BSN within 5 years of hire date is required. Experience Self-motivated with administrative\/organizational abilities. Excellent written, interpersonal, and communication skills. Detail and result-oriented. Minimum of three to five years of nursing experience. Minimum of three to five years of healthcare risk management and\/or healthcare compliance experience. Holds current Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) or Certified professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) Working Conditions Working conditions are almost exclusively indoors in a warm, well-lit environment. Motor coordination and manual dexterity are necessary for the coordination of eye-hand and motor function in computer and telephone use. Near visual acuity is required for reading of reports and using computer equipment. Light demand of inter-office or inter-campus traveling with frequent sitting. The most significant of duties are included but this does not exclude occasional work assignments not mentioned or developmental duties.
