We are seeking an uncommon professional to join our team as a Compliance Manager.

Under the general direction of the Customer Operations Leadership Team within CUNA Mutual Retirement Solutions, the Compliance Manager defines policies and procedures that ensure the compliance of client-produced retirement plan documents, , provides subject matter expertise and guidance to the organization concerning document compliance. The Compliance Manager also responsible for document processes related to the creation, maintenance and compliance of retirement plan documents.

In addition, the Compliance Manager provides direct and indirect support and leadership for his/her respective Customer Operations Team, working to ensure the timely and effective application of CUNA Mutual Group processes and policies. The Compliance Manager is indirectly responsible for ensuring quality customer service that meets or exceeds CUNA Mutual clients and members expectations as measured by increasing revenue, decreasing expenses and/or retention of existing business. This role will have leadership responsibility for performance metrics and process improvement in their respective areas. In addition, the Compliance Manager has the authority to hire, recommend termination, coach, develop and evaluate direct reports.

Job Responsibilities:

- Develops/assists in the implementation of compliance process and workflow improvement initiatives, and program/policy changes

- Assists in remediation of identified plan document/operational variances

- Develops and modifies approaches for high volume legal review of client documents

- Acts as subject matter expert for document review, and is utilized for quality control reviews, the development of outsourced resourcing models, and as a staff resource for training and mentoring.

- Provides policy analysis and recommendations for legal documents.

- Participates in project teams for new products and services, providing analysis of impact to plan documents

- Leadership/Coaching

- Provides overall leadership to teams and day-to-leadership to team leaders

- Coach team to be able to identify inquiries which are beyond scope of authority and take appropriate actions

- Inspires team leaders to focus on adherence to CUNA Mutual Group policies and processes, as well as federal and state laws and regulations

- Fosters a positive work environment

- Develops and maintains productive working relationship with team leaders, setting a positive example for their working relationships with their team

- Career Development/Performance & Dialogue

- Set goals and standards of performance for team leaders and team members which are linked to business goals; use appropriate measurement methods to monitor progress; take suitable accountability for successful completion of assignments or tasks

- Provide on-going dialogue to team leaders about their performance

- Coaches and helps establish individual development and career plans

- Coordinates with Learning Consultant on career development opportunities

- Performance Management

- Ensures Quality Assurance reviews are completed for team members and reviews results to ensure achievement of appropriate progress

- Ensures team compliance with company processes, federal and/or state regulations as required

- Monitors and evaluates Quality Assurance and metrics reports for each team and identifies trends and opportunities for improvement related to service levels and quality targets

- Analyze periodic performance indicators and communicate regularly to team leaders

- Prepares employee performance appraisals and merit pay recommendation

- Issue Resolution

- Investigates and resolves issues as required - whether customer issues, team issues or departmental issue

- Operations Management/Continuous Improvement

- Identifies and approves process changes to improve customer experience

- Maintains in-depth knowledge of CUNA Mutual and CUNA Mutual Retirement Solutions

- Promotes and maintains a positive, professional image of CUNA Mutual Group

- Participates in special projects as directed by Customer Operations leadership

- Communication

- Informs team leaders and members of changes, potential changes and other pertinent information affecting the departmental areas

- Plans, coordinates and conducts meetings to discuss operational procedures

- Supports the dissemination of CUNA Mutual corporate-wide and Center-specific communications on-site

- Business Continuous Improvements

- Identifies and approves recommendations for process changes to improve customer experience

- Provides guidance and direction regarding issues that require exceptions to the normal process procedures

- Provides assistance to other departments (Product, IT, Legal, and Sales) as needed

- Coordinates with other departments (Product, IT, Legal, and Sales) to ensure that performance targets are met

- Promotes and maintains a positive, professional image of CUNA Mutual Group

Job Requirements:

1. Bachelor's degree in Business or other related field or trade off in related professional experience.

2. 5-10 years' experience in the Retirement Industry

3. 4-6 year's prior experience directly and indirectly leading medium sized teams.

4. QKA, QPA or CPC ASPPA credentials or equivalent

5. Knowledge of qualified retirement plans, designing and drafting plan documents, amendments, amendments, plan restatement process, and regulatory compliance

6. IRS determination letter filing experience required

7. Strong research, writing, and communication skills

8. Ability to work collaboratively with outside counsel, vendors, and in-house retirement solutions staff

9. Familiarity with Relius and/or ASCi document systems is preferred

10. Prior experience with drafting and design of documents for multiple plan types, including 401(a), 401(k), 403(b), DB and 457(b)

11.0IRS Program filing experience required

12. Strong interpersonal and demonstrated team-building and coaching skills, proven teamwork and collaboration.

13. Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills; ability to apply sound judgment and make effective decisions.

14. Proven ability to organize and prioritize; demonstrated success in multitasking and managing multiple, competing priorities.

15. Prior experience with project management methodology strongly preferred.

16. Strong ability to communicate at all levels with clarity and precision, both written and verbal.

17. Ability to adapt in a changing work environment.

18. Advanced technical/computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.
