- Compliance Job Profile
by Silas Reed
There are various benefits of corporate compliance. First and foremost is that it helps to make things function more smoothly, and if the company is following proper compliance then the company has good work ethics. Moreover, if corporate compliance is followed you won’t have to worry about things that are being done wrong because you are following the proper law. Special Company laws are set and should be strictly followed; the company which works within the law maintains good status. Take for example a company is providing its products at a cheaper rate but on the other hand is polluting the whole environment surrounding it. This company is said to have broken the norms set and heavy penalty can be imposed on it.
The scope of getting a good job in corporate compliance is vast as there are many companies. Moreover, new companies are also coming up and gaining popularity. These companies should be monitored to make sure that the rules and regulations are being properly followed or not. These companies have posts like compliance officer and compliance manager. They look after compliance related issues such as ethics, financial statement, sexual harassment, and fair ways of hiring employees as well as environmental preservation. If one has many years of experience in this field then one can look for senior positions in this field.
There are many courses available if one is seriously interested in corporate compliance. The courses can be completed in certificate or diploma form. There are some institutes which are offering part time courses so if one is working then these part time courses are just right for them.
The punishment for breaking laws are severe depending upon the type of law the company has broken. The law may be broken by anybody in the company. It may be a peon, executive, manger or some senior person. In all cases, the company is mostly held responsible and liable. The punishment can be in terms of fine or imprisonment or both. It all depends upon the system which decides it.
The important thing is that corporate compliance builds reputation of the company whereas non compliance destroys it. It is the duty of compliance officer or compliance manager to see whether the company is following proper norms or not. Moreover, it is also the duty of every employee to follow the norms and should take care that norms are not broken.
