In today's economy, the regulatory and legal environment has, over the course of decades, grown into a part of doing business that is hundreds of billions of dollars. Ensuring that employees and customers are treated fairly, equally, and ethically is the specialty of those who choose compliance careers.

If you enjoy training and teaching people, and are a highly ethical person, then a career in compliance training and enforcement could indeed appeal to you.

Other areas of compliance training can include programs on workplace harassment, discrimination due to age, race, creed or other factors, insider trading, bribery, trade secrets, patent law, electronic records management, and more. Basically, anything that there is a law for, needs to be covered to some extent.

Compliance careers can be found in areas of business and commerce. From software companies like Microsoft, to large insurance and financial firms, the number of medium and large companies embracing compliance modeling as an essential element of their business and corporate structure is growing ever year.

Compliance professionals will also be called upon in helping to craft the company Code of Conduct, as well as designing the overall compliance training plan for their organization. This could include several individual courses for each area of compliance that are relevant to a particular company. Employee compliance enforcement could also annual or biannual Code of Conduct training instead.

For those with compliance careers in management, the focus is usually simply on making sure the company remains free of grounds to be sued, whether by the government, an unhappy customer, or a disgruntled employee. It is the role of those in compliance careers to ensure that all employees are following the laws and regulations mandated at state, federal and local levels.

Most compliance careers will be found in the training department of the major companies. Titles may vary from Ethics Specialist, to Corporate Trainer, but it is fundamentally an educational and training role. However, on the legal side, lawyers are also involved with compliance, making sure that the company is, in fact, in compliance with all the laws and regulations that they need to be.

Those in compliance careers make sure that the company with whom they are employed acts within both letter and spirit of the law. This includes not only management, but even more importantly, the rank and file. Depending on position and experience, salaries will range for the low 40ks to the upper 90s; for those in management and legal the wages can be significantly higher.

If you had even taken a workplace ethics class, then you have seen the benefit that compliance professionals can bring to any company - being ethical is simply good business, and companies that embrace this will not only create a number of compliance careers and related jobs, they will gain a competitive advantage simply by having a reputation for honesty.

What I liked about the service is that it had such a comprehensive collection of jobs! I was using a number of sites previously and this took up so much time, but in joining EmploymentCrossing, I was able to stop going from site to site and was able to find everything I needed on EmploymentCrossing.
